Ọ̀ṣun represents the sweet waters that sustain life. Far from vanity, her association with beauty is fundamentally ties to the abundance and prosperity of civilization. She heals with her soothing waters and guards over pregnant women and young children.
Diplomacy and Authority
Ọ̀ṣun holds immense political and spiritual authority. According to the Odù Ọ̀ṣẹ́túrá, creation could not proceed until she, representing feminine power and esoteric knowledge (Aje), was respected and included by the male deities.
