/eh-SHOO/
Definition
The divine messenger, guardian of the crossroads, and enforcer of cosmic justice who delivers sacrifices to the spiritual realm.
The Messenger
Èṣù is the essential paradox of the universe—the enforcer of order who uses chaos as a test of character. He stands at the crossroads of every decision. All communication between humans and the divine must pass through him.
Misconceptions
Due to mistranslations during earlier colonial periods, Èṣù was incorrectly synchronized with the Christian devil. In reality, Èṣù does not oppose God but works directly for Olódùmarè as an impartial cosmic inspector who rewards good character and punishes arrogance.
